PART ONE: CONSUMER AI IS RESHAPING HEALTHCARE

By Publicis Health

For decades, the patient journey often began with a search engine. Today, it increasingly begins with a conversation with AI.

At The DHC Group's recent Consumer AI Roundtable, hosted by Mark Bard, Publicis Health's Chief Content Enablement Officer, Stephanie Schulman and Heartbeat's EVP of Engagement Strategy, Dan Haller joined leaders from across healthcare, pharma, technology, and communications to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the way patients access, interpret, and act on health information. The discussion highlighted a critical reality: patients are no longer just searching for answers. They're receiving them.

As AI becomes a more prominent source of health information, the industry's challenge extends beyond creating effective campaigns or producing compelling content. It requires ensuring that the information powering AI-generated responses is accurate, credible, and grounded in trusted sources. Healthcare may be embracing many of the same technologies transforming other industries, but the stakes are fundamentally different. Trust, transparency, and medical validation remain essential.

The conversation also underscored a shift in patient behavior. Individuals are arriving at appointments more informed and more engaged, often having already consulted AI-powered tools about symptoms, treatment options, and brands. Rather than viewing this as a disruption, healthcare organizations have an opportunity to meet patients where they are by supporting more informed and productive conversations throughout the care journey.

For marketers, communicators, and healthcare leaders, this moment calls for a broader view of engagement. Success will increasingly depend on understanding patient questions, identifying information gaps, and building content ecosystems that help AI surface reliable, authoritative answers. It is no longer enough to focus solely on the message. Organizations must also consider how knowledge is structured, governed, and made accessible across the digital landscape.

At Publicis Health, we believe the future of healthcare communications will be built on the same principles that have always mattered most: delivering trusted information, enabling meaningful conversations, and creating experiences that put patients at the center. As AI continues to reshape how health information is discovered and consumed, those principles become even more important.
